Paddle out onto the St. Lawrence River from Les Escoumins, departing from the Quai des Pilotes, and discover the shoreline at a calm, immersive, and silent pace. Our guided sea kayak excursions take place in small groups of up to 8 people, seated in double kayaks for stability, safety, and a shared experience. Private outings are also available for a more personalized experience.

Accompanied by an experienced bilingual guide, you will explore a stretch of coastline renowned for the richness of its marine environment — rocky headlands, tidal flats, and deep waters where wildlife is particularly abundant. Throughout the excursion, your guide shares information about the St. Lawrence ecosystem, local maritime history, and the species observed. All our excursions are offered in French and English.

Hydrophone

When conditions allow, we use a hydrophone — an underwater microphone that captures sounds from the river. This tool lets you listen to the marine soundscape, including at times the vocalizations of certain species such as whales. Its use depends on weather conditions, ambient noise, and the presence of animals, and cannot be guaranteed on every outing. In a kayak, the absence of a motor creates a particularly ideal context for a clearer, more immersive listening experience.

Environment

Our excursions are conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park. We take a careful and responsible approach to minimize disturbance to wildlife and protect the sensitive marine life of the region.

Weather & Safety

Outings take place in a variety of conditions, but safety is always the priority. River conditions can change quickly and strongly influence whether an excursion can proceed. The Du Fleuve team reserves the right to postpone or cancel an outing if conditions are deemed unfavourable or dangerous. In such cases, the excursion will be rescheduled or refunded.

Wildlife Observation

Marine mammals, seals, and seabirds may be spotted during the excursion. However, as these are wild animals living in their natural environment, their presence can never be guaranteed.
